SOCIAL SCIENCE SPECTRUM AT 3RD CENTENARY
Social Science Department of Guru Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School, Mansarover Garden, New Delhi, celebrated the event “Social Science Spectrum”, in the school on 06th December, 2019. It was an endeavor to give ample opportunity to the students to nurture their potential and creativity and facilitate teaching and learning. The theme of the spectrum was “Social Science – A Career Gate”, which aimed at making the students aware of the significance of Social Science as it opens diverse and rewarding career options. The programme was inaugurated with the opening of the folder “Social Science – A Career Gate” by the Director of the school, Dr. (Mrs.) Surjeet Kohli, accompanied by the Principal, Mrs. Jaspritma Kaur and Principal Junior School, Mrs. Manbeen Kaur. Different folds depicted various career options such as Curator, Cartographer, Archaeologist, Psychologist, Political Scientist, Economist etc. A poem entitled “We and Social Science” was recited by Japjot Singh of VIII C and enacted by the students of Std. IV and V. The poem gave the summary of Social Science. The highlight of the programme was “Alumni Meet”. Students of Std. X enacted as alumni. They explained how Social Science helped in building their career as a Teacher, IAS Officer, Financial Analyst, Tourist Manager, Lawyer, Choreographer, Archaeologist, Politician and even businessman. The character of Mr. Patel, the business man, was highly appreciated. Open House Quiz was conducted and questions were asked class wise. Children participated whole heartedly and enjoyed thoroughly. The programme concluded with the words of former US President John F. Kennedy – ‘Geography has made us Neighbours, History – Friends, Economics – Allies and Civics – Civilized’. A host of activities were organized to mark the day during zero period such as Word Search for Std. IV and V, Map Mania for Std. VI to VIII, Preparing Profile for Std. IX, and Designing Pamphet for Std. X. Children participated in these activities with great enthusiasm. It was a great learning as well as an entertaining experience.
